Staithes is a traditional fishing village famed by Captain James Cook having spent some time there working in 1745 before his career as an explorer.
The village still has many local people living there with also numerous holidaymakers visiting from all corners of the UK all year round. It still has a small community of fishermen operating from the harbour in small fishing boats. It has narrow winding streets leading to various points of natural beauty viewing.
Crime rates are basically non-existent and you will find that many local people and holidaymakers simply leave their front doors open
